Final Digital Calendar - The Gallery Calendar - Self-led Brief

Since the screen-printed version of the calendar was lacking in quality, the designs were also printed digitally to create an alternative, professional outcome. The stock it was printed on was a soft matte which created a nice, smooth texture for the prints to glide across each other. It also allowed the block colours to stand out well on the page, looking bold and striking - which was important for the calendar to stand out within gift shops. The printing was successful because it was done on a particular inkjet printer, which meant that more ink was applied and filled the page consistently.

The calendar was placed in a plastic wallet to give an idea of how it would look in a retail setting. It looks professional, appealing and secure.

The digitally printed has been made loose leaf, this means that each of the prints can be admired individually and as a collective. It means the consumer can easily flick through and admire the design and potentially keep their favorites once the year is up without causing the pages any damage.

The colours are bright, eye-catching and complimentary and are likely to appeal to consumers. The refined imagery is distinctive and recognisable, and with large block colours there is interesting contrast.

Bulldog clips have been used to clasp the design together, this means there is still the contrast of colour and silver metal but it protects the quality of the pages better. The hole in the clips can be placed on hooks and allows the design to lie flat on the wall. Bulldog clips are often used for exhibition work, so this creates another authentic link to the gallery content. A lot of artists will be familiar with this format.
