The final design has
been printed on several different stocks. The cover uses a thick
matte stock and specifically uses the inkjet printer so the colour is
full and bold. The inside cover contents then uses a pink and a
yellow stock, to match the colour scheme of the guide. These have
been chopped into thinner sections to engage the reader. Similarly
acetate has been used on one of the spreads to show annotations and
added detail over the top of some of the illustrations – this makes
reading the publication an experience and adds to it's appeal.
Similarly, stickers have been made of a 'V' shape, to be layered on
top of two of the spreads, this adds to the texture and is also
something that young people particularly resonate with. There is also
a section of the guide where an illustration has been perforated so
it can be torn away and put up on the wall or given to a friend. This
means the reader is further engaged with the guide and may also
recommend it to others using the tear-out. The rest of the stock is
on white matte card which indicates the professional and trustworthy
nature of the product.
The spreads of the
design have taken a highly experimental approach and this is to
reflect the experimental nature of the teenage experience, especially
concerning sex. There are certain elements which regulate the spreads
– such as use of a grid, a specific text layout and colour scheme;
but the designs within these vary and creating an interesting and
engaging experience for the viewer.
