Poster Development

The posters were inspired by Neubau's simplistic, authentic poster designs that emphasise circular design and take a monochromatic approach.

The posters took this style but took one singular circle to create a bold and striking effect, echoing the O logo within our logotype and the sticker branding amongst other elements. Something I found particularly difficult was arranging the logotype and the text to be balanced and not distract the viewer. Beatrice Ward suggests that if you notice typography, you will never fully get the message it is delivering. As a result I tried to make sure it was concise and the correct size, in proportion to the rest of the composition elements.

Another element of this was the content of the circle, each circle's image is an aspect of our halftone theme. The first is some acetate from our projection layered, the second is an image halftoned to show the effect and the third is a simple scan of some halftone. Although all this branding it very simple I wanted to make sure it followed the theme and created intrigue. Thus allowing the colours of the prints to truly stand out once inside the exhibition.
It was important to make sure that the posters I designed followed a similar style to Izzy's flyers and Tom's catalogue designs.

To do this we made sure the logotype was positioned in the same spot in both elements. Izzy also changed the design so text was no long in the circle but images instead. We also decided to make the poster circles at the bottom of the page whilst the invites held the circles at the top keeping with the balloon shape.
In the catalogue we decided to add a row of stickers and some acetate in order for the holder to create the shimmery effect that gliding them against each other allows.
