"Objects and
Logotypes: Relationships Between Minimalist Art and Corporate Design"
was a minimalist exhibition made in the 1980s. On the walls
corporate logotypes were displayed, the iconic forms that were meant
to project, with a single amalgamation of text and image, a coherent
identity of large multinational companies. Whilst on the floor
minimalist objects were arranged in juxtaposition, including a steal
box and a zinc floor piece.
Similarities
between the two styles of design are evident throughout the
photographs. "Reductive forms, stark geometries and rigidly
consistent proportions prevailed across the exhibition." The
style of the room uses lots of negative space and orders things very
meticulously. Although this was an exhibition for minimalism it
conveys the style as the overall feeling and brand in itself.
We
wanted our project to reflect a similar aesthetic of
organisation and simplicity, with the prints themselves being a
shock of colour in the centre. In order to do this we wanted to use
this incredibly organised branding frame as inspiration.
