Grid Experiments

Initially there was experimentation using a self developed grid, purely made using circles after the importance Frutiger placed on the shape. There may have been too many circles as part of the grid foundation, as the shapes and widths created were far too varied. Since many of the symbols needed straight lines it was illogical to base the line on intersecting circles, as there was no consistent angle to work from.

I then developed work using the flower of life grid, which was more successful in getting accurate and consistent detail. However, these designs felt too delicate and pretty- they were not bold enough to represent the zombie apocalypse aesthetic or look commanding.

From using the flower of life stencils I experimented in spray painting the designs in bright green. This meant that the leaf shapes felt far too natural and organic, completely the opposite of the destruction that would ensue because of an apocalypse. Despite this, the texture and tone achieved by spray painting was more successful, the slight blur created was rough and vibrant.
