Studio Brief 1 - How to Make the Design Break Boundries

For part of the module it became important that the design broke boundaries, especially as it was going to be exhibited. For the reason, I made a mindmap of ways this design could be made more original. This included ideas such as:
  • Making the cards sea water stained and using salt to bubble the ink to link it further to the sea theme.
  • Including more erratic nudity - might not be appropriate for a public space.
  • Including more violence? Again might not be appropriate although ideas could be implied. For example on the strength card the sea could be the colour red.
  • The cards could be an extreme size - incredibly large or even incredibly small, this idea wasn't grounded by much though.
  • Using a stock that old fashioned paper, dirtied and muddied.
  • The backs of the cards could have raised ridges, implying the shapes on the front of the cards. Part of the fado music genre is that it is often played in darkness - could the cards also have an element where they are designed to be read blind. They could be black, allowing the viewer to 'feel out' what they want to take from the card.
