Studio Brief 1 - How to Make the Cards Viewable Whilst Blind

So to make the designs more original I decided to develop the backs of them so that they would have the shapes of the designs raised, so they could be felt rather than seen.

To do this I planned to use glue to create the shape on the back and then spray paint to cover this once dry, to make them purely black and without distraction.

I experimented with making a recreation of the design with my eyes closed, this was to try and create a more meaningful, blind interpretation of the design. This shape was then translated into something more simple that could be painted out in glue.

I experimented with different glues, seeing which would create the strongest, fine detail on the backs of the cards. The top line is 'Impact Constant Contact Adhesive' which wasn't so sucessful, the shapes seem to melt in the middle of the lines, rather than staying strong. The second attempt, the wave in the centre, was most successful - 'Tack Glue - Fine Precision Nib'. This kept strong shape and allowed for more control. The last one - 'Cocacoina Mia Glue' didn't work at all, the bottle allowed little control and the glue clumped into beads.
